The original “WAKEFIELD HOTEL” was a famous watering hole two doors up from our current address. When it was demolished 20 years ago to make way for a car park our good friend (and former tenant) set out on a late night mission to acquire the iconic sign. After abseiling down the front of the building on an old rope and make shift harness made out of a dog collar and chain he cut the bolts and lowered the sign. Luckily for him he finished just as the rope broke.

In 2007, we took over the lease and began building the new store. During this time we found the sign hanging on some old rope in the back room. It was in bad condition and needed restoration but we knew we had stumbled on the name and identity for the store… and the rest is history!
